Meta Quest live ESPN sports begins with Texas vs Oklahoma in 180° VR

Updated 10 October 2026. Meta’s new immersive sports coverage begins with the Texas Longhorns versus Oklahoma Sooners college football game at the Cotton Bowl today. The official Quest event listing promises a live 180-degree sideline view, followed by a full-game immersive replay and highlights on demand. It is an interesting test for people who already own a Quest headset, although availability in the UK is not yet clear from Meta’s listing.

When is Texas vs Oklahoma in the UK?

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Dallas on Saturday 10 October, which is 8:30 p.m. BST in the UK. The local time comes from the University of Texas schedule announcement. Meta’s event page displays the start time in the viewer’s local time zone, so check the listing on your own device before the game. An earlier alert circulating with a 9:30 p.m. UK start was an hour late.

What will Quest viewers see?

Meta describes a fixed 180-degree immersive perspective from near the sideline at the Cotton Bowl. You can look around that half-sphere of video, a different experience from watching a large flat television screen inside VR. It is not a free-roaming view where you can choose any seat or camera position. Meta says the full game and highlights will be available on demand after the live stream; the event page does not state how long they will remain available.

In its immersive sports announcement, Meta promises 8K streaming and 180-degree views for its ESPN collaboration. Those are the company’s format claims, not a guarantee that every viewer will see the same sharpness: headset optics, stream quality and connection speed still matter. We have not tested this event independently.

Can you watch it from the UK?

The public event listing is visible here, but Meta has not clearly confirmed UK viewing rights, any regional restriction or whether a subscription is required for this particular live game. Open the Texas vs Oklahoma Quest listing while signed in on your headset and check whether the watch option appears in your region. We would not promise a UK stream until it is actually available in the app. The listing offers a watchlist reminder and says the replay and highlights can be watched afterwards.

Why this is worth watching

This launch is happening on existing Quest hardware, ahead of Meta’s planned VR Glasses in spring 2027. Meta says it expects more than 100 immersive live sporting events a year after those glasses arrive, with partners including MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports and UFC. For now, the real question is whether live 180-degree coverage offers enough presence and reliable picture quality to make fans choose a headset over a television for a whole match.
